Café Peninsula is an integral part of Winchester's Military Museums and located in the Guardroom Museum, which stands at the entrance to the former Rifle Brigade Depot in Winchester.
This Grade II listed building was constructed in the classic style around 1900, using stone columns and window surrounds salvaged from the former royal palace destroyed by fire in 1894.
The original 'T' shaped building retains its original block of five cells, however the two exercise yards were covered over in 2002 to provide additional display areas for the museum.
The museum and visitor centre was opened by Her Majesty the Queen in November 2003.
